I would like to share the Epic story my Friend wrote about me.

All I wrote on my facebook was “Back to Paleo” (Paleo is my cavewomen diet that I’ve been on and lost 10lbs along with crossfit)

And here is his epic comment, Please read!

Before breakfast she wakes up 10 minutes early to make sure her knives are sharp. As she walks out the door she grabs her 4x6 3" wide club made from Mammoth bones. Out in the wild she looks for anything edible, picking up leafy greens here and there. Sometimes she spots her prey, whether it's a cow, chicken, or pig. But as soon as she sees it she turns on Ninja mode and quietly creeps up to the victim. POW, one clean jerk to the noggin and she snatches her breakfast. Oh if it's a chicken she steals its eggs and says to herself, are these Omega3 fortified?

After breakfast is settled, she proceeds to work to go about her day. Sometimes she hears this weird grumbling and its often her stomach saying to feed me. Missy understands that paleo people are grazers, and often eat every two to three hours. So since she's a smart cookie, she avoids the sugars because all they do is tell your brain "I need that crack.. gimme dat" ... and she grabs some seeds or nuts to snack on instead until her next meal. Sometimes, if she's been good and the paleo gods are smiling, she will have some fruit she picks up along the way while she's hunting.

Lunch finally comes around and Missy thinks to herself, NOM NOM. Me go food food. So the paleo person that she is, she grabs her BPA free Tupperware container filled with all sorts of green stuff. She gleefully munches on lettuce heads and broccoli and spinach and carrots and cauliflower. She also remembers to get some protein in so she packed her lunch with 5 pounds of bison that she killed the day before. But, she also remembers to get her fats in so she makes a little avocado spread to go with her bison.

BACK!

Now the time between lunch and dinner is usually the most hectic. Depending on when she gets a chance to eat lunch, Missy will again have something to snack on. She looks through her Louis Vuitton bag, which she had Louis make from the animal skins she's collected from her prey, and she can't find anything. She freaks, "like OMG, what am I going to do? I forgot to pack more NOM NOMs!" ... Missy collects herself and immediately goes on the hunt. She goes to her coworkers and asks, "You haz NOM NOMs?" ... They look at her and think, "Bitches be crazy yo" but politely reply, "I have a Boston Creme Donut." Immediately Missy's eyes glisten, her mouth salivates, the cravings kick in, and her brain starts pulsing with the words "CRACK, CRACK, CRACK, CRACK IS GOOD MMMMKAY."

Missy's Crossfit senses kick in and all of a sudden she hears the voice of William Shockley telling her, "If you eat that I will make you do 100 Burpees." She thinks to herself, "If I haz dat, I just do burpees. Burpees make it all better. NOM NOM it's just one donut. I can haz just one." Then, like a voice from the sky, Coach Shockley once again says to her, "Listen Bitch, if you eat that you will set yourself back a week and I'll make you clean the toilets at the Box." Missy looks at her coworker with disdain and replies, "Thanks, but I no can haz." She goes back into Ninja prowl mode and looks for something a bit more friendly.

Missy steps outside and spots an oasis, "Oh look, a Bodega. They haz NOM NOMs." Poof she makes a mad dash toward the store running in perfect Pose Method and crashes through the door. Carefully, and oh so meticulously, she looks about searching for something paleo friendly. "Crap!" she screams. The store owner looks at her and says "Can I help you?" Missy replies, "I need NOM NOM. Gimme NUTS!" The owner blurts out, "What? You want deez Nuts?" ... Missy's eyes turn red, she grabs her trusty Mammoth Club and bonks him on the head and says to him, " Don't be such a caveman." After the store owner gets up off the floor, Missy spots a bag of Pork Rinds. "OHHH NOM NOM. PORK RINDS ARE GOOD." But she doesn't forget, this is America, land of fake food and processed goods.

Missy looks at the ingredients label, she reads aloud, "Mah-no-So-dee-umm-Gloo-tah-mate. Cooked in Canola Oil." She quickly remembers from her Paleo seminar lessons to avoid eating foods cooked in Canola oil. So she begins crying, "Is there nothing in this damn country that's safe to eat. OH NOM NOM, stomach HURT!" Unfortunately for Missy, the stupid company who produces the pork rinds took a perfectly good food and turned it into poison. She says to herself, "Like Oh-Em-Gee, So Typical."

What is she to do? Missy leaves the store and spots a fruit stand. She grabs some blueberries and raspberries and strawberries and snozberries. "Snozberries?!?" ... "Haha, throwback, childhood moment." So like Charlie in the Chocolate factory she skips merrily along the way back to the office. Missy is a smart ninja, as soon as she gets back to her desk she hops on her computer and checks her email. She discovers her boss needs her to finish a report by the end of the day and she looks at the clock, 3:00pm. "W T F!" she screams then there's suddenly a chime from her phone. "Oh Facebook alert! Must check mah messages. Yay." Missy minimizes the email from her boss and brings up Facebook.com. "Ah crap, just that guy JV writing nonsense again, like Whatevs."

She brings up Google.com and types in, "Paleo NOM NOM Snack." Must plan for future she thinks. The search results come back and she finds Steves Original Paleo Kits. "OHHHHHHH!!!" Missy looks at her screen with wonder. "I never go without NOM NOM again! Yay!" One, two, three clicks, Add to Cart, Add to Cart, Add to cart. Missy goes to the checkout screen, "5000 DOLLARS!!!! Iz Joo Seriuz? Why shit so expensive!?!? My Louis Vuitton is cheaper than dis." Good thing Missy is crafty, "Dem Idiotas, they put ingredient list on website. haha. Screw you Jobu, I do dis myself." They're just made of nuts, dried fruit, and grass fed beef in a vacuum sealed bag."Ok, this weekend, I go go Trader Joe Joe and we make Paleo Nom Nom Snack YAY. Oh well, must do this report for my boss. pendeja."

While beginning to type her report, a strange sensation overtakes her. She looks around, nothing. Types a few more words then POW. As if the earth falls from underneath her and the gravitational pull begins tugging at her rear. "Uh oh." Yes, it's that time of the day. Every human's duty to go doodee. Missy proceeds to the bathroom and slams the stall open. With perfect back squat form, she maintains a neutral head, chest up, back tight, "Ploop." She turns around, "Oh what the hell?!? That's it? Oh that's right, I'm ok." Paleo people often eat foods that the body completely uses. So there isn't all that extra poop from all the processed additives found in the unhealthy Nom Noms.

Missy returns to her desk to finish her report. "Stupid report, what's today's WOD? She brings up Crossfitact.com to see what the workout of the day is. "FRAN!?!? I'mma make her my bitch." A coworker gets up from her desk, "You're going to do what to me?" Missy replies, "Ah snap girlfriend, relax. It's just the name of a workout I have to do later. You already mah biznatch, mah homeslice. Take it easy easy don't get all C-breezy." Her coworker replies, "Oh you're talking about that cult you belong to. Missy retorts, "Fo Sho! Don't worry, I'mma get you to drink da koolaid too. See deez Abs, I be poppin GHDs like they candy." Her coworker looks at her with half baked eyes, "Omg I didn't know you do steroids." "Nah uh girl, G H Deez. It's an Ab workout. But you have to do them properly or else you start pissin blood.

Her coworker turns around, "ohhh K" and abruptly hides behind her desk. Missy gathers up her things and heads for her car. She doesn't want to be late to the gym. Coach Shockley will make her do burpees if she's late. 3 2 1 go the workout begins. Immediately Missy thinks, "Fmylife, screw you world. Damn this shit. What's for dinner? hmmm. Ah crap, time to move onto pullups. 1 pullup, 2, 3, 15. Damn I'm good. Maybe i'll have some chicken. Oh well. Crap is Coach looking? Crap this sucks. Stupid Fran."

The workout is over, Missy is laying on the floor. Her fellow Crossfitters walk over to her to congratulate her. "Good Job Missy!" "Bad Ass Missy" She says to them, "Thanks guys, good job too!." In her mind she's saying, "Fuck this shit, I wanna puke." She quietly collects herself and grabs her belongings. "Bye everyone!" Everyone yells, "Bye Missy" She turns around and gives them a smile, her stomach grumbles and she thinks, "Damn I want that Boston Creme Donut"

As soon as she returns home, Missy sharpens her knives and wipes the blood off her Mammoth Club. It's time to hunt for dinner. She goes outside and looks around. Nothing but quiet, dead Winter air. "Que Frio" .... "Screw this!" Missy grabs her car keys and speeds to Stop and Shop. Once she arrives she pulls out her notebook, she reads, "Paleo Survival Guide for the American Supermaket." Several lines below it says, Stick to the outside aisles, Anything in the middle is processed. If you can't pronounce what it says on the ingredients label, THAT SHIT AIN'T FOOD.

Missy looks around, "well I ate a buffalo this morning, maybe I'll have some fish. Can't go wrong with fish." She walks to the seafood section and she spots salmon. "Oh Nom Nom, I go make Grill Salmon." She looks at her choices, "Heh, ummm." Farm Raised Salmon, 3 dollars per ound. Wild Caught Salmon, 5 dollars per pound. Missy yells, "Damn America, why is it more expensive to eat healthy." Reluctantly she places 10 pounds of Wild Caught Salmon in her cart. "Oh well, I be goin to da Carribean, Baller!!! I ain't puttin none of that hormone injected farm raised crap in deez Abs"

‎20 minutes later, Missy is home. She's slaving over the stove. She grabs the coconut oil to cook the Salmon in, throws in some Garlic and fresh cut lemon slices. She pulls some asparagus out of the fridge and Sautees it with the salmon. "Rachel Ray ain't got shit on me bitches." Missy salsas around the kitchen singing about her cooking skills. Poof dinner is ready. 10 pounds of salmon, sitting on her plate, Missy drinks it down. She sits in front of her now empty plate, thinking, "I did good today. Paleo is easy....." She looks around, stares at her plate, taps her foot, an urge overcomes her. DESSERT. Zombie status engaged, DESSERT DESSERT DESSERT.

Suddenly, as if magicall, the fridge door opens, she pulls out a plate of Flan. "Wait, Dairy and Sugar. I can't do this. All that blood sweat and tears after doing Fran ... all for nothing." Coach Shockley's voice echos in her head, "Throw that poison out, is you Stupid?" Suddenly she thinks to herself, "Hold up, I'm only 80% paleo. Haha I win." She grabs the closest spoon and devours the flan. Immediately she is filled with regret, but yet she thinks to herself damn that was good. She throws her dishes into the washer and looks at the clock. Time for bed, must sleep so she can do it all over again tomorrow. She goes to her room, pulls back the sheets, quietly says a prayer asking the paleo gods for a pig to kill in the morning so she can have bacon. She lays her head down and blows a kiss to her coach William Shockley action figure, Good Night coach.

My Old Jeans and Crossfit

Dear Old Skinny Jeans,

I am so happy I did not give up on you or myself. I once said “One day when I'm skinny again, I will be able to wear you again”. The way I kept that promise was not your typical way. I didn’t wake up one day and start working out… Nope! It stated back in June, my boyfriend’s brother Rob told me and my boyfriend, that he and his friends were partaking in an event call Tough Mudder. It sound like a lot of fun and I decided to participate in the event and join his team. But before paying for it, I waited about a month and did some research on it. I went to the website, I saw the course, I read some articles, and saw a few videos and came to the conclusion that it was Really Really Hard!

At that point I realized that just running was not going to work and I needed to up my workout (especially if I’m the only girl among 7 men). Then I remembered my hair dresser Rebecca, talking about her style of workout called Crossfit and how much she loved it. I was interested when she first mentioned it months ago but didn't try it because well... let’s be real, I was lazy lol. But now that I had a purpose I gave it a try. I found one Crossfit gym a mile from my house and tried the free class. It was hard and I felt so out of shape but I signed up!!!! My main focus at the time was to train for the TM and not become deadweight for my team.

Four months now, hundreds of pull ups, power cleans and 10lbs later, I am still going strong and getting stronger! I didn't think I was going to be addicted to Crossfit and definitely didn't think I would be a part of a wonderful community and make friends along the way but I did.

Although I didn't completely forget the purpose of my training I did change my mentality about working out. I do it now because the same love Rebecca once expressed is the same way I feel about Crossfit and my box. Without the amazing support I know I wouldn't be typing this letter.

And now that I casually look at you and think of trying you on, “skinny” jeans in back of my closet, I no longer think, “when I’m skinny” I instead think, “now that I’m much more fit I will give you a try” because I’m no longer intimidate by you! As I try you on one leg at a time and button with no problem I just look at myself in the mirror, smile, and say this is what happens when I sweat and grant 4 days a week. 10 pounds off and I feel fit, healthy, happy and awesomeness just flowing all over! :-)

Pumpkin Pie!!!!

Check out the AWESOME TASTY Pumpkin pie I made. It was so easy and healthy and tasty, try it out for your self.

Everyday Paleo Pumpkin Pie

Crust

1/2 cup hazelnuts

1 cup pecans

4 tablespoons melted organic grass fed butter

pinch of sea salt

Preheat oven to 350. Place the nuts in a food processor and process until the nuts are a flour like or almond meal like consistency. Pour into a small mixing bowl, add the butter and salt and mix into a thick dough. Using your hands, spread evenly into a pie pan and back for 10 minutes.

Filling

1 – 14oz can of organic pumpkin puree (nothing added, just pumpkin)

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon fresh grated ginger

2 eggs

1/2 cup raw organic honey

1/2 cup coconut milk

While the crust is in the oven, whisk all of the pie filling ingredients together. Pour into the curst that has been baked for 10 minutes, return to the oven and bake for and additional 45 minutes. I hope you enjoy the demo!!

Creators Block....

Hey Bloggers!

I miss you all! Even thought I've been traveling and working hard. I can't lie I've had Creators Block, its like writers block but for crafty people. Its awful!!!!!!! Believe me I Love bloggin' but with my job consuming my time its been hard to get away even in my head. But today on my walk to the bus station I felt it again! I saw inspiration all around me today and I felt it was time to write AGAIN!

Hey Everyone! Its been a while but I wanted to catch you all up on my last cupcakes I did for Easter.

How about the Royal Wedding!? Did everyone see it? Did everyone see the wedding cake!? AMAZING! Its so prefect! Its not to overwhelming or to plan or to ROyal lol. I did read that all the flowers have meanings thats can't be expressed in words. (how cute!) The wedding over all was so amazing they just look so in love.

Sorry everyone I haven’t been blogging as much the past few days. I’ve just been working on a few ideas that I hope to share with you all in the next few months. I promise it will be worth the wait.

Last week in the grocery store they had a sale on Strawberry’s and I got two big boxes of it. A couple days later I decided to make Strawberry jam. I was super excited to make it for the first time all by myself. It looks so pretty and it taste ever better.

The Day I met Sandra Lee

Today was just like any busy day at work but with a few minutes to research how to make JAM, Yes Jam! I can across an event that was happening today in Grand Central Terminal, which is not far from my job called THE WORLDS BIGGEST BAKE SALE. Since the event was from 11:30am to 7pm, I decided to stop by right after work at 5:15pm and guess what!? It was DONE! I was so upset I wanted to share the event with you all but I guess they ran out of all of the cupcakes early (way to early). As I was about the leave I saw this tall blonde women exiting right where I was but at that point I had no idea who she was, until she got closer. I then realized it was SANDRA LEE!

I was so nervous to ask for a picture but I said “Whatever I have nothing to lose” and I ask and I got it!

My birthday and cupcakes

The past couple of weeks I had two orders of cupcakes and I wanted to shared them with you all. Both were for birthday parties, one was red velvet with cheese cake frosting and a star. The other cupcakes were for a little girl party it was chocolate cake with honey frosting and a queens crown to top it off.

About a week ago I saw this poster on http://www.thekitchn.com/ and I just LOVED it. What do you think?

GUESS WHAT MARCH 19 WAS!? MY BIRTHDAY! I am now 26y/o and the sexy guy next to me is my loving boyfriend Elson. He did a really good job getting my friends together to dinner, drinks and dancing. Thanks babe!

Last thing, if you haven't watched this movie "Nowhere boy" order it on NetFlix. Its an awesome Movie and I recommend it.

How many people have read or watched the Secret? After watching it I realized I was always doing that even before I knew what “the Secret” was and I am a firm believer of it. However in the movie they explain to wake up and be grateful everyday for at least one thing in your life. As of today I started to do that and it feels good but now I have to keep it up. This past weekend my mother had asked me if I could make her a cake. I agreed but I wanted to try something new so I came up with different combination of flavors. However the decoration was done by my sister and my best friend. Its SUPER PINK! You would think it’s for a baby shower but it wasn’t (lol) it was for a family party. At the end it taste wonderful.

My Tumor is GONE!

Hey Everyone,

I’m sorry I haven’t been on I finally had my surgery to remove my tumor (YES ITS ALL GONE) and everything went well. I just kind of underestimate my surgery I thought it was going to be one or two incisions not 5! Thank goodness for my family, my mom has been taking care of me everyday like cooking and cleaning for me. My dad and boyfriend help me get up and get things for me since I can't bend down yet. I love my family. However, I’m walking little by little and hoping three weeks of disability is enough but it looks like I might be taking a 4^th week to feel 100%.

Oh! And here all my GET WELL GIFTS! I love my friends and Fam.

Onnnnn a brighter note! Check out the cupcakes I did for a 5 y/o birthday party a week before my surgery! Super cute!

Watching- How I met your mother

Adventures of Missy and her CUPCAKE Hat!

For my 8year anniversary my amazing boyfriend (Elson) got me a super cute gift that honestly came from the heart. He got me a CUPCAKE HAT. I must say it’s one of the best gifts ever but I under estimated the attention I was going to receive when I wore the hat. At the time I started wearing the hat I was also doing my cupcakes for charity and many coworkers were aware of it so when they saw me with the hat they decided they would all call me the Cupcake Lady! I found it really funny, it didn’t bother me at all, and I actually enjoyed it.

Another time, I was in the mall with Elson at my fav store Lush. Once I entered the store to look at all the awesome things I realized that everybody was looking at me. Then one girl yells out, “Is that a CUPCAKE HAT!?” I said “yes it is (as I smiled lol)” the ladies all just were amazed by the hat and complimented it. Before leaving the store I thanked the cashier for making my day and shared my blog website with her.

Since I work in NYC sometimes I have to walk from work to Port authority, all 15 NYC blocks to get my bus. It’s my way of a working out and enjoying NYC. Anyways, as I walked to port authority I started noticing a lot of people were double glancing at my hat but of course the “New Yorker” I am, I don’t pay attention and keep on walking. Until one day as I’m walking with my headphones on a young guy runs in front of me trying to get my attention as he is waving his arms. I then look up and in his way of hand signals (since I still have my headphones on) he said I love your hat! (ending it with a tumbs up!) I smile and say thank you.

I can’t believe how much attention a simple cupcake hat brings. Every moment was funny, awesome and honestly made my day. Thanks NEFF for making such an AWESOME HAT!

Baking in January

Earlier this month an old high school friend contacted me on Facebook because she saw I was selling cupcakes and she placed an order. The order was for her nephews 1 year old birthday party. I was excited about it! Check out the pictures.

This past weekend I had 3 other orders. One order was for a baby shower and the other 2 JUST BECAUSE they love my cupcakes, which all are repeating customers J.

I’m really grateful that people are starting to contact me for more orders. I’m really enjoying the baking process and the different orders. This is something I have a true passion for…

That being said I decided to challenge myself to think out of the box and come up with my own recipes every month. I promise to come up with at least 12 different cupcakes.

Shelter Day!

Shelter Day!

I finally gave the shelter the money to feed all the beautiful dogs and cats. I am so happy so many people helped me out my first year doing this. Next year I will be picking a different shelter to donate money. Thanks to everyone I raised $350! $300 went to the shelter and $50 went to the products used to make the cupcakes.

Charity: Eat Cupcakes & Feed dogs and cats.

Lately I’ve been thinking of doing something charitable this Christmas. I know many people giving money, time and clothes to the homeless so I thought, since many others are helping people I would like to help animals. Therefore, I would like to raise some money to help feed the hungry and homeless dogs and cats out there.

The next question was HOW? After much thinking, it just came to me… an old fashion bake sale.

Cost: For 6 cupcakes $5 & For 12 Cupcakes $10

Cupcakes: Vanilla, chocolate, pumpkin Chocolate, coconut, strawberry, pineapple, churros cupcakes & chocolate Graham Cracker Cupcakes.

Frosting: Strawberry, chocolate, Honey, Vanilla, pineapple, whipped & Vanilla cream cheese.

*Cupcakes above need 1-2 day notice.

*Any special request needs 4-5 days notification.

Money Raised

95% of the money raised will go to the animal shelter*, 5% will go to the ingredients.

Commitment is hard sometimes but losing ones self is easy…Why is that? I think for me it’s because I got promoted at my job and been so excited about it and just extremely focus on it that I lost my committed mood for baking and blogging. But last week when I whipped up some cupcakes my boyfriend pointed out, how happy I am when I bake. When he said that I realized “wow, things are just falling into place but I’m losing myself to this promotion”, as excited I am about my new position, I need to NOT let this new job totally consuming me. Now I’m back to blogging and baking and thinking about my next New Year’s resolution.

So my favorite holiday pass and I like to share what I did for my boyfriends, friends and myself. CHECK IT OUT:

I was a Zombie Housewife.

BTW- Here is the recipes for the cupcakes from last week. Please comment me if you have any questions.

Apple Cupcakes

Makes 12 cupcakes

Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 large egg, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 cup applesauce
1 cup Granny Smith apples, diced

AND 1 cup LOVE!

Method
Preheat oven to 350F. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.

Bake for 15-18 minutes, until the muffins spring back when lightly pressed and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean

PUMPKIN CHOCOLATE cake

Ingredients

1/4 cup canola oil, plus more for greasing
1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 (15-ounce) can pumpkin purée
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Method

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an (8-inch) square baking pan with oil and set aside

Bake until the cakes pulls away from the sides of the pan and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 40-50minutes.

This is a cake that I made into cupcakes :-)

FOR THE HONEY FROSTING

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, very soft

1 bar (8 ounces) regular (or reduced-fat) cream cheese, very soft

1/4 cup honey

make sure you taste the Honey if not add more honey to it.

My weekend was fun. On Saturday, I went to a cool hunted house and then went to see paranormal activity (good movie for Halloween). Today I BAKED 2 Types of CUPCAKES!

I'm going to make apple cupcakes since I went to an Orchard last week with my boyfriend, Best friend, her mother in law and my nephew. It was a great time.

An AWWWW Moment

Update on me: I just like to thank everyone for their wishes and prayers, I am doing much better. I’m up and baking now and just looking forward to my follow up meeting with the DOC on Thursday (wish me luck).

During these pass days at home, I’ve painted, baking, took care of my little dog (Quinn), listened to some great music and watched some cool dance videos and cooked yummy meals for my boyfriend. Basically just taking it easy…

In the beginning of the week, while eating a nice bowl of frosted mini wheat’s in the AM with my boyfriend, listening to the radio and not feeling so great while still in PJs, hair undone and no makeup, my boyfriend gets up, grabs my hand and asked me to slow dance to an acoustic version of Bruno Mars “just the way you are”. I was so taken back I was a little speechless, I’m not going to lie, I also most cried when he did that…I love him so much!

Surgery can’t stop me from Blogging

Something unexpected happen last weekend… I had a bad pain on my side by the appendix area on Saturday Sept 18 around 5pm. The pain continued and around 10pm and my boyfriend suggested to go to the emergency room, I agreed. On my visit to the ER the doctor suggested to get an ultra sound. After the ultra sound was done the doctor told me the pain was caused by a mass near my right ovary, he admitted me into the hospital for observation and gave me 3 antibiotics. Sunday morning I was weak but felt better. Sunday night wasn’t so great I had bad pains again. I told the OBGYN Monday morning about the pain and he said “We need to send you into surgery to know what exactly is causing the pain because the mass is covering it” and into surgery I went.

They found a cyst that burst near my ovary which was what caused the pain but they also found a benign tumor bigger then my uterus. Scary!? YES but everything will be ok and I am happy it’s not going to cause any risk to my health. I’m not really sure when I am going back to surgery to remove the benign tumor but I’m just happy the pain is not as bad as that day.

As of now I’m on the road to recovery . Just got to take it slow…

My boyfriend’s birthday was this past weekend (Sept 24^th) and this was the cake my mom got him so cute!

Thanks for coming back to check out my blog! I have so much to share with you all.

On Aug 27, was my last half day Friday at work, so I took the time on a gorgeous day to walk around NYC. During my walk I pass by a couple of cute stores. One was AC Gears, they had so many cute and unique type of gadgets. This is definitely a great place to check out some cool Christmas gifts.

Another cute store was WHISK. That store was simply amazing, everything you need for your kitchen. I must warn you, it is not your typical Kitchen aid store, It Cooler than that it’s a place you can buy stuff to brighten up your kitchen. Please check out their website. As for me, I bought a pack of red and white paper straws for my new dessert party in Oct.

On Aug 28^th, I went to an AWESOME Indian wedding. Everything was just amazing and the cake was beautiful, from Carlos bakery also known as THE CAKE BOSS. And YES, we wore the traditional Indian outfits! It was such a cool experience. :-)

As you all know I went on vacation to Colorado. It was an amazing experience, a lovely place, so peaceful. The Rocky Mountains were like something I’ve never imagine, although it was very hard to breather the higher up the mountain we went. I think we were above 12,000ft up. We also visited the Celestial Tea factory, it smell so good. The vacation over all was really relaxing. Here’s are some pictures I took along with a cute souvenir I got myself.

The past week was really nice. On Thursday my co-worker and I took a cupcake class at Butter Lane in NYC http://www.butterlane.com . The class was about 2 hours; it was fun, hands on and learned a lot from the class especially how to keep clean while baking. Another blogger by the link name of Serious eats in the class and she shared the tips to cupcakes check it out here.

After trying to find an excuse to make desserts I decided to have a small desserts, drinks and game night at my place with a couple of my friends (15peeps). It was a good time because I made my homemade desserts and everyone had fun.

Sweetz:

Chocolate on Chocolate delight

Vanilla cupcake with cream cheese frosting

Vanilla cupcake with strawberry frosting (made with homemade Jam)

Marshmallow with white Chocolate toped with pop rocks

Coconut macaroons toped with Natella

And colorful bubble gum (from Economy Candy store in NYC)

It came out so cute... many of my friend were impressed.

Can you tell I’m going dessert crazy!

As I was reading my favorite bloggers a beautiful mess post a couple of days ago, she wanted us to take 4 simple goals for our daily life that will make our lives richer and happier on a daily basis. I decided to take part in the fun as many others did, here are my goals.

1. Before I go to bed,think of the positive things I did that day.

2. View at least one blog a day and leave a comment.

3. Write down my ideas/plans.

4. Kiss my boyfriend goodnight everynight.

By the way...Congrats to me I reached 300 views for my blog! yayaya!

On Aug 3rd had my company picnic, I personally had fun. The theme was Circus, so they had clowns, games, palm readers, cotton candy and a lot more stuff. I tried the tight rope, which was a cool experience, I ate A LOT and I also got my palm read which was cool (that was my first time).

Aug 7th, before heading down to PA I gave my BFF (Naty) her painting I did for her as a little surprised and she really enjoyed it. (SHE LOVES TO KNIT)

On Aug 8th, two of my best friends (Naty and Gwen) and I drove down to PA to go and celebrate my other best friend’s baby showers. It was an amazing time since we haven’t seen each other in 7 years. It was a great feeling for us girls to be reunited and to celebrate Lee’s baby bump. My BFF Naty was in charge of the whole baby shower, Wendy was in charge of helping step up and I was in charge of the cookies and helping with the table step up and pictures. We ran behind schedule but everything got done, it came out beautiful and it was a great time. Everyone had a good time. Enjoy the pictures.

On a side note, I must thank my boyfriend for driving me everywhere on Saturday. It was a crazy day but a great experience. I LOVE YOU!

Keeping Focus...

Keeping my eye on the prize just means working hard to get where I want to be and making it on my own. Sometimes keeping my eye on the prize is hard because I think I could do it all in one day, and then I start to get so impatience that by the end of the day I get disappointed in myself. Why?! because after my 9-5, I just want to go home and bake, sew, paint, cook, clean and workout all in a matter of 4/5 hours. It just doesn’t happen, unless I get no sleep (and that can’t happen). After a while I started to get frustrating! So my boyfriend basically flat out told me, “STAY FOCUS ON ONE THING FOR NOW, then the other things will follow”. As I kept his advice in mind I decided to keep a calendar, since I can’t bake everyday cause I would get fat, I am going to organized myself with a calendar. So I shall stay focus, get organized and things will fall into place.

Life and a Movie

Getting organized is one of my challenges in my life. I’ve always been the type of person to have 1000 things run in my mind all at once and do nothing about it, so I decided to just take a seat from all the madness and think to myself “Melissa, what is your next step?” Answering that question is not easy and I don’t have a clear answer (but I’m getting there). I had to do some searching but I know that my ultimate goal is to do something that makes me happy and I could make a living with it. I know I am a business woman at heart but searching for A BUSINESS IDEA is hard enough. While I was thinking, I wrote down all the things I enjoy and all the projects I have lined up for my self. Then I realized, why just pick ONE thing! Creativity pours out of me already! So ladies and gentlemen my end result is that I think I have found myself a yellow brick road to my life and I am 100% sure that I am ready to take the next step and for that I am happy about.

Things I enjoy: making things, baking, making food, get together, blogging, and people.

On another Subject:

A couple of days ago my best friend (NATY) texted me if I wanted to join her to watch the premier of an indie movie call “The Dry Land”. I was totally IN, since we barely hang out now a days and cause indie flicks are just AWESOME! The event was organized by the Latino Justice and Latin film festival, which they did an amazing job. We got to meet America Ferrera and Wilmer Valderrama, the movie was great (I recommend it) and me and the bestie got to spend time to catch up and drink some wine (lol). Over all night was GREAT!

Amazing weekend

Hey ALL!

This past weekend was the wedding and it was such a stressful (only for me) yet beautiful and fun time (for everyone and me :-)). My parents enjoyed every minute of the party and I must say the whole experience paid off because I still continue to get complements about the wedding. My duties for the wedding were the following: Buy my parents wedding dress and suit, making the table numbers, place cards, dessert table (which no one took a picture of *sad*) and make the wedding schedule of how the whole day would be. It was a BIG task to finish but it got done.

You see... 26 years ago my parents were (and still are) in love so they got married in city hall with two other friends as there witness and a cake from Pathmark to celebrate amongst the 4. So for my mom a church wedding was a dream and now that my parents had a little more money to spend my father wanted to surprise my mom for her 50th birthday with her own dream wedding. With family, friends and me, we made it all happen with a DYI wedding with a budget of $6000. It was an amazing time but a lot of hard work. I have to THANK ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY for making this wedding much sweeter.

Today was a good day because I had a great conversation with a friend about how I was not happy at my job. You see... I'm not doing what I love to do, which is to be creative, (i'm currently a 9-5 gal) sadly that job is what pays the bills right now but I need to stop thinking that my dream job will land on my feet so I decided to take a stand. After thinking about it for so long I decided to give myself 60-90 days to build my inventory and launch an ETSY.com store and after that maybe a collaborations. This is going to be my main focus after my parents wedding which is on July 17. After that wedding I might not leave my craft desk in order to just CREATE! lol

The flowers can be used for craft projects you might have. As for me I am using them for my parents wedding. I created table numbers for each table and glued the flower on the card. I will post a blog this week on a step by step way to make them.

The flower can also be used to pin on shirts, cute tops, bags or even heels.
As for me I will keep building them.

I can't wait to continue adding to my 2010 project!

I am so beat, but I wanted to blog a little before bed. I actually just came home from my family BBQ, its always fun with them. They are all so young at heart. I hope to be the same way at there age. This morning I woke up early just to bake my family a cake (which they loved). It was a 4th of July flag cake...it was cute. I will be back to blogging on Monday and I will show you what I did for my parents wedding (sorry no more clues) other then its for a wedding. I am off to bed. Check out my Cake.

Hey reader! Today has been a great day for a few reasons: the weather has been amazing and it will be for the whole Holiday weekend, my work time went REALLY fast, I also heard good news from someone and made me and my dad really happy and last but not least I am ALMOST done with my parents table numbers I am doing for there wedding. To top it off I my coworker gave me a mini red Velvet cupcake, it was just great timing.
Well its time for my bed time but I will show you my final table number project once I am all done.

I also wanted to share my painting I did 2 weeks ago. I've just been to excited to paint since I got my CRAFT TABLE. I call her DANNY MANNIE who LOVES to wear costumes (RANDOM!? yes lol)

Next I want to buy my HELLO KITTY SEWING MACHINE. CAN"T WAIT to get my hands on that :-).

Day 1 of my new blog

On Saturday I had a life changing moment where I thought to myself, WHAT AM I DOING? Other then hating my job and watching TV? Nothing... So I bought a desk and I invaded my boyfriends Man Cave and put my craft desk in the room. Honestly, the best decision I have made, my boyfriend didn't mind, he actually likes my company*he is so sweet*.

I called this blog "through an Indie Lens" because I love vintage photography, toy cameras and Polaroids, so I will take you on my daily creative adventures. I hope you all enjoy it.

Here are a few things I love, indie photography, handmade things, different bloggers, ETSY , my dog Quinn, my BOYFRIEND (not a thing but I love him lol) and just enjoy being creative. I don't really write much but I will try my best, I just love photos and what they say by itself....
